Unlimited Usage policy

What "Unlimited disk space and Bandwidth" means?

There are no set limits on the disk space or bandwidth (data transfer) that we provide in plans marked "unlimited". We want you to have the resources you need to build a great online presence and offer practically unlimited resources for you to use for the right purposes.

We do need to be sure that we are providing all of our customers with optimum service. As such, we do require all customers to be fully compliant with our Terms of Service and utilize disk space and bandwidth related to the normal operation of a personal or small business website.

While it is rare, we may need to put constraints on accounts that are adversely affecting other customers or otherwise utilizing or abusing resources beyond what would be expected of a personal or small business website.

What will happen to an account that don't comply with the Terms of Service or go beyond normal usage?

Hostraptor's service is a shared hosting service, which means that multiple Subscriber web sites are hosted from the same server and share server resources. Just Host's service is designed to meet the typical needs of small business and home business website Subscribers in the India. It is NOT intended to support the sustained demand of large enterprises, internationally based businesses, or non-typical applications better suited to a VPS /dedicated server.

You may think, how they determine the acceptable usage limitations are? From our hosting experience, we learnt that anyone using over 5120 MB of disk space or large number of files (inode count in excess of 1,00,000) is likely to be using our server as a backup storage device, multimedia files that are not linked off of their websites, sharing, archive, mirroring, etc.. can have an adverse affect on server performance. Similarly, accounts with an excessive number of MySQL/PostgreSQL tables (i.e., in excess of 1000 database tables) or of database size (i.e., in excess of 1GB total MySQL/PostgreSQL usage or 500 MB MySQL/PostgreSQL usage in a single database) negatively affect the performance of the server.

In Hostraptor, we'll monitor our customer account and their use of bandwidth, disk usage and other resources through a variety of human and automated controls to maintain good performance. If any of an account that is not in compliance with our Terms of service or that has the potential to negatively impact the performance of our systems, we may request that the number of files/inodes, database tables, or total database usage be reduced to ensure proper performance or temporarily suspend / terminate that account and notify the action to the administrative contact. Also, we work with that customer to resolve the issue as quickly as possible and provide you with the best solution. Once again, we like to remember is that Hostraptor provides disk space and bandwidth to operate a personal or small business sites.
